Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. In the 80s, the actor-singer Prince was christened Apollonia to be one of the many female performers who gained from working with him. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work started as a model and actress in the late '70s and included an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. Kotero was the female lead in Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed the name of her). In the same year, she was replaced by Vanity as part of the trio Vanity 6 as well as performed alongside them under the title Apollonia 6 in the film. The singer made a bigger impression on the charts when she was Prince's partner in Take Me with You, a duet from the soundtrack. Kotero and Prince were at odds over her future career. Between 1985 and 1986, she landed a part on the drama series for evenings Falcon Crest. Apollonia could finally release her debut album in 1988. Unfortunately, it failed to leave a lasting impression with music fans and soon faded from the spotlight. She continued acting (if somewhat obscure) throughout the following decade.
